Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

If you have not read the book, don't read this.
What can I say, I loved it.
While I was not the biggest fan of book five, Order of the Phoenix (rereading it helped alot), I now realize that it was the transition book to get from the first four books to the last two. As the books have gone on they have become more and more serious, some would go so far as to say darker. I know many people who don't like that, but as a boy grows up life becomes more serious. So it make total sense that books Five, Six, and Seven will be a bit "heavier" than one thru four.
The book opens with the British Prime Minister getting visited by the Minister of Magic. This gives an update on the state of the Wizard War as seen by us the lowly humans. Then we learn that Voldermonts supporters are planning something big and Draco Malfoy is at the center of it. Then we catch up to our main character, Harry.
We then learn the state of all the main character and how the war is effecting them, as Harry and Company return to School. There are the usual growing up issues, romance, competition, new responsiblities, that interweave between the main plot, the some funny moments(its rare that I laugh our loud at a book, but that is one of the strenghts of this series). Rowling finally "fleshs" out Dumbledore as he helps Harry deal with the responsiblity of beign the "Chosen One" as stated in the Prophecy in book five. Dumbledore and Harry explore the history of their enemy Tom Riddle aka Lord Voldermont. Harry also gets help in class from an old book that was once owned by the Half-Blood Prince. These three plot points, what Draco is working on, Dumbledore's studies and the Half-Blood Prince all come to together at the end in the nice twist that all the Harry Potter books have. While I knew that the ending was coming for some time it still doesn't help. Dumbledore is killed! But is the identity of Half-Blood Prince and Dumbledore Killer that was a bit of a surprise, its Professor Snape. It shouldn't have been Harry has hated for six books now. Still there is something about one of Snapes last lines "keep you mouth and mind closed" that felt like he was telling Harry(and us) something. The book ends with your Heroes off on quest to destroy the Voldermont and the Death Eaters, that leds us into book seven.
Funny but full on gives away the ending

Coming out of the Wood Work

Well, Well, Well....
The last week has been pretty tiring. As you can see below I did a pretty uninteresting show. Hopeful this weeks will be better.
Reid came to town. We didn't Rock! But it was nice to see him. We rode around talked and listened to music all of Thursday. Friday we found Chris Blue and hung out with him. Blue was terrible funny to hang out with. He should do comedy. YOU HEAR THAT BLUE!!!! DO COMEDY!!!!! Anyway, I took Blue and Reid to the Hippo for the Friday night fun. Mainly because I knew that it was Reid's best chance to see Jess. But the opening band, The Dwayne Brothers from Kansas, was pretty good. They also had the cutest little singer. Blue and Reid want me to go talk to her, but I was as always chicken shit scared. Luckily I got out of it, because she was married.
Saturday, I said good bye to Reid and headed back to work. Work is just work. But as I was getting off, I was walking threw the Bar and there was Jerry and Laura just drinking. Jerry moved to Memphis awhile back. So I had to go home shower and go back to the Hog to talk to him. Then Ford want to hang out with me on Sunday. We drink beer and watch TV. Then on Monday, Ford and I went and saw The Devils Rejects. Devils Rejects was good, but it is very different from House of 1,000 Corpse
Why am I so popular all of a sudden? I am still the same loud mouth loser I have always been. I as much as a liked seeing Reid, part of me just wanted to sit home and read Harry Potter.Which I read in my free time.
I guess those feeling are what led to bad Karma night at work on Tuesday. Just horrible. Johnny Struggle must die!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!GGGGggggrrrrrr.....!!!
Guess I can take it out onThe Frog

Crazy Ramblings

So I threw a stick off my porch and it caught fire as it landed in the bed of singing fish. The cop who pulled me over while I was walking naked across a parking lot had antlers that vibrated to the sound of the half moons rock'n band. The Comic Book of my life is being written by noble souls who usher on Princes of Fire, Blood, and Thunder. But no snakes, never snakes. Strings strum and trumpets sound to the low riders of under and down. High Church calls and all our pastes fall to the found ground sound of this lost town.
Doors and Mountains, Mountains have door. Lost, Cold, Naked and Alone cries my Personal Demonology and some of my Southern Discomfort. Or...is that Southern Comfort, Evan Williams, Jim, Jack, Johnny Walker(Red or Black). No Jose' you can't come in,
We need no sin! Water, Water....Holy Water ever where! Burn this Vamps with out our care. Muddy Waters and Howling Wolves, Sun Houses, Blind Lemons and The Three Kings make up shows of my dreams. But the Devils still rides at at the crossroads. Red headed woman wants for my soul. nOw, Is time for the SlEEp, that leads to DrEamS, that can't be de' feet. ED! The Hum of B3 and petal steel as super Heroes fight to stay real. CRAP!!! in my pants.

Slacker Williams

I feel like a slacker. I have not written on this in days. I guess no interesting thoughts have struck me lately, or have been read to much Harry Potter. I have been saying "git" and "bloody hell" alot.
I really have been working hard. I really don't know what those rich folks would do without me cooking for them. Me and Dean did over fifty people last night. That doesn't sound like much till you have to do it.
Anyway, my main man Reid will be here for a few day and hopeful we will have some cool Rock'n Roll Adventure for me to write about. Maybe we will go to the coast and do some gambling, maybe Mobile, maybe N'awlins. Maybe straight to Hell....okay hopefully not that last one.

You call that a Storm

Well I looks like Dennis wasn't so much of a Menace after all. The Eye of the storm is roughly parallel to H'burg about 100 miles east. But the whole storm front is moving so fast that it has caused little damage, here. Alot of wind and some rain. We didn't lose power or even have any trees damaged. They didn't even set off the warnign sirens. I know some people in Florida got hit hard and I know some one is about to get hit with a major storm but it isn't going to be me. That is the third time we have dodged a pretty big storm in the last few years. I guess hope our luck holds out for a few more years.

Dennis (the Menace)......Hurricane Whoa!!!!

Well the big storm is almost here. I have done everything I could to prepare for it. I am stay here in H'burg, mainly because i don't think I could get anywhere else fast enough.
Still I am should be okay, I Hope. They are only talking about 70mph winds (ONLY 70mph wind) and alot of rain (FLOOD). I wonder if I will get activetied by the Red Cross?
I was watching the sky as the first ban from the storm washed over the area yesterday. It was a just a sheet of dark clouds that just seemed to push the bright sunny day we had away. Some out-of-towner even when out to film it. The wind and rain only lasted 30 minutes to an Hour yesterday, but wow, what an hour. If that it a sign of things to come, it is going to be bad.
I wonder if work will be open tomorrow?
Its funny that people "Just talk about the weather", like weather isn't a major factor in their lives. Weather effects almost everything we do. Hot or Cold weather can effect how we dress. I remember the wind in Oklahoma ripping the door off our van, it was so strong. These storm alone will do millions of dollars of damage and displace people for months. Its just amazing me how far our society has come and still how insignificate we are when faced with the true power of nature (Hurricane, Earthquake, etc...)
I expect to lose power in the next 24 hours. So I might not get to write much for awhile. At least I can practice my guitar.
I think I am going to try to take some photos of the storm and I will try to post them later on this here site.
Well anyway...Keep us here in the Gulf South in your prayers, whomever you pray to.

July 4th!!!

Well here it is again. The day to celebrate the greatest country in the world. But what are we celebrating? It seems that sense 9/11, we, that is USA, have not been that great. Not because we discovered that we where not as safe as we always thought we were, but because of our reaction to 9/11. We truely have become the tyrant that other countries have always said we were. All in the name of "Freedom & Justice".
This country seems to have been suffering from a moral decay for decades, at least all my life. As I look back in my world history books I find parallels between our decay and the fall of other great nations/states. The Roman Empire being the best and best know example. While the Roman Empire did survive the fall of Roman it was the internal decay that lead to it.
For a moment after 9/11, we become what we always should be one nation. We were not Irish American, African American, or Native American, but simply Americans. We put aside everything else to be a nation. But now we have reverted to the nation of TV watching morons we were before. Doesn't anybody realise there is a war going on. US military are suffering and dying. But we treated like a big budget movie. It leads me to worry about my country.
My main worry is that no one thinks of the consequences of there action. Because of our "Freedom" we don't think about how our action effect others and future generations. Still I know the day is coming when hard choices have to be made. Some "Freedoms" will have to be given up. Like our "Freedom" to drive gas guzzaling trucks and monster station wagons aka SUVs. Change it is the only constant in this world. I just hope we change for the better and don't enter a new dark ages.
Having said that, I do love this country and I do think it is the greatest country in the world. I love the idea and ideals of the USA.
That is truely is the beacon to the whole of the world. We might not be perfect but tell man evolves into a higher conscience, its the best we got.
Now I am going to shut up and go have a beer.
End of Rant, Happy Fuck'n Fourth of July & God Bless the USA!
